Zero; how long did you worked for RAC?
Henry: about four years.
Zero: why did you leave?
Henry: got a better job, just got tired of the BS I guess.
Zero: have you ever seen another employee being rude to a costumer?
Henry: sure all the time, were nice to them till we have a disagreement then we can use anything we want to get them to pay or get the merchandise back.
Zero: did you ever see payment dates changed?
Henry: seen it, done it.
Zero: why would you do it?
Henry: anyone of a hundred reasons. Could be as simple as I don’t like you. Or maybe were told to up the stores numbers buy adding late fees.
Zero: did you ever hear of an employee using a costumer’s personnel info for there own reasons?
Henry: you mean like hot girls?
Zero: yea
Henry: my favorite sport.
Zero: what about personnel stuff that is left on rented computers that is recovered?
Henry: nude photos, bank account numbers, phone number’s seen it, kept it, used it.
Zero: if you don’t like someone what else could you do?
Henry: my god the list is endless. My favorite was when we recovered something, after we get back at the store is to kick the *** out of it and say that’s how it was when we picked it up. Or in the case of a laptop that this girl shoved in my face on her porch I just kept it and told the manger she never answered the door. She ended up paying for it.
Zero: that never bothered you?
Henry: f#@% no, f%#* the ***.
Zero: if you could give RAC customers some evince what would it be?
Henry: take pictures of your stuff as there picking it up, it also helps to have a camera with date and time stamp. And for god sakes get a recite when they pick your stuff up. But the best thing is don’t rent from them!

| 2. Written by Don't do it, on 22-01-2010 14:21 Wow. After reading the last comment, I’ve got to point out that you should always be skeptical when someone recommends you commit a crime. I work at RAC, too, and while I agree that the interview posted above is ridiculous, the advice about how to steal from us is terrible advice because (1) we can and do find people through different kinds of public records and services and (2) when the person is found, there may be a warrant for a misdemeanor or felony charge. Once criminal charges are filed, even if they returned the merchandise, the crime has been completed and the prosecution will continue. So if you did this, even if it was years later, you could get pulled over for a speeding ticket and get hauled in for the warrant. And when you spent the night in jail, you could think back to this poster and consider whether he’d bail you out. Even better, now that this "advice" is out on the internet, if you do this very thing, that will make it easy to show that you did everything with the intent to steal. |
| 3. Written by John Henry, on 21-01-2010 23:15 Wow... let me tell ya... this is wrong in so many ways. First off, this is all bull crap. At rent-a-center, we screw people in a small way. Not a big way. But still screw our customers. Do we change due dates? YES, but NOT to hurt the customer, to "trick" them into paying EARLY instead of late all the time (which happens, ALL THE TIME). i.e. If a customer is due on a wed, we setup their due date on a SAT so that they are paying a few days early. We CAN NOT, let me repeat that CAN NOT change their due date to the past to make them late all the time! Next. Do we do anything we shouldn't with their personal information. I would assume that some people could. Would be VERY risky, and stupid. I have never known of any store to misuse information for their own personal gain. As far as getting a laugh over some stupid info that is found on their laptop (i.e. a very STUPID resume), yes... that happens. DELETE YOUR INFO if you return something like a computer! Other than that. nothing. I am an EX employee (ex store manager), and I can tell you these for a fact. I am NOT defending RAC (as they suck to work for), but just stating the facts. FOR THE CUSTOMERS: First off, Showplace (if available in your area) offers better prices (for the most part). Aarons, well.. don't be stupid. They "claim" to offer better prices, but often times they are scaled down versions of what RAC sales, or made by themselves, etc. Oh, and when collection time starts, don't listen to your neighbor who says they (rac) cannot do this or that to get their stuff back. They can VERY easily file a replevins (court order of return of merch.) or even small claims/garnishment. They pay nothing for this (because it is money they are going to get back!). What I would suggest is, if you want to steal from RAC, first off, rent something, keep it a few weeks, return it. Then go in on a tues, wed. or thurs, (times when they are hard up for deliveries) and get a nice TV, and ask if you can take it home with you if you rent it. If they say NO. well then you are SOL. If they say ya, tell them you have moved and got a new number and new work, etc. Then put in fake info for those areas. Then, POOF... no payment after the initial one. They can't replevens cuz they don't know where you live, can't garnish cuz they don't know where you work, can't call you cuz they don't have your number (and if they do, just answer and say "wrong number dude") Anyways, have fun and happy shopping! |
