Ok so I started renting a laptop in early Oct 2011 I have the benefits plus program which I was led to believe was a program where u could return your merchandise if u got laidoff with no penalties. Well on Oct 28th my company lost their contract and laid us off.

I did not want to return my laptop, I like it so I didn't bother to contact the office thinking I would just keep up my payments. So my next payment is due sat nov 10th I call and explain the situation to the lady and she acts all sorrry and we make arrangments and set up a new schedule never once does she mention that I am entitled to payment waivers. Ok so I get y'all gotta make money but really?? 2 wks b4 Christmas a single mother of 2 whose account is in good standing calls about a company layoff and even attempts to make different arrangements and y'all can't even mention that she has a way out?

Really??? Bad moral fiber. And know her apologies about the loss of my job just seem patronizing and very insincere. So its my fault cause I didn't read my dang book but as I said...really.

wow. Even I wasn't that despaerate for the money that I needed to stoop that low and I just got laid off. U PPL SUCK!

So I have the customer service.number and the corporate number and tomorrow I intend to raise ***. Shame on u

Monetary Loss: $300.

Location: Houston, Texas

I have to wonder why you didn't mention it to HER? You're (or were) paying for Benefits Plus, and you weren't aware of the actual benefits?

And if you were....well, like I said, why didn't you mention the waivers to HER? I was in the same exact situation a couple of years back. I had no issues at all. During my layoff period, I paid zero for my laptop (which I kept and used during this time).

I had Benefits Plus, I was aware of my rights if I were to get laid off (which I did), and I exercised those rights. No issues at all. You can't lay this at the CSR's feet.

They're not babysitters. It's your responsibility to know your contract, know your rights and exercise them.

My wife and I have been renting from Rent a center since October 2015.

My wife had emergency surgery resulting to her losing her job, 2017

Yes we had Benefit Plus. The store did not want to use it do to them not getting paid.

Yes we know its over priced, sorry being black wasn't born with silver spoon in my mouth.

They are acting like *** right now, but big deal. Be mindful renting from them that's all

I was laid off in March 2017 and the Benefits Plus program has helped me pay on my agreements. If all paperwork is submitted right away and you have always been on time with payments this program is great.

The manager from the store I rent from is one of the best customer service people I have met in a long time. She also indicated that after the Plus

Benefits stop and I am still unemployed they will work with me.

Guest

This is a common misconception. BenefitsPlus pays RentACenter the rent.

It doesn't just get waived. And there is a claim process you must go through.

It's based off of whether you get unemployment benefits or not through the government. If you are approved for unemployment, you are approved for 4 months or $1000 worth of rent.

Guest

I was told that after my 4th payment from unemployment, I would qualify for waiver. That was July 26, so I paid up until then.

Because of the biweekly distribution, I couldn't print off payment until august 3. Now today I am told they are finalizing everything today or tomorrow, but takes a week to cut check and kick in. And I owe up to the 23rd. That's ***, that's an extra month of payments I have to make???

This is set up so no one can actually use this program.

I am the single mom of 4, having surgery in two weeks and need to get kids back to school stuff.

And now they tell me I have to come up with almost 300 to cover this past month or I lose stuff. That's not right, it's false advertising for the program.

I too work for Rac. Benefits plus is a great program.

It takes time to get the correct paperwork submitted and the claim approved for the store to receive the payments from BP. Not everyone is approved either and until they are payments still have to be made on the merchandise.

Wow really where is the consumer relation in your reply why cant rac work it out with the customer since rac is the company pushing the so called insurance product and misleading customers and employees do not notify customers of a application process and approval and may take x amount of weeks if approved but we still need to make scheduled payments there is no discussing that forget misleading we get lied to and anonymous can keep cleaning up the lies and defending bad business i hope you get your *** sucked the way you suck a ***.

Its not the rent a center employees job to spoon feed you and read the ToS ect. Learn to read and understand before you sign things. You seem to have some issues that need working on.

Guest

i work for rent a center as a assistant manager not every one approved for unemployment through benefit plus it depends on benefit plus program itself to see if you qualify or not and all depends on your pay history with the store what you should of done is as soon as you got laid off should of went down to rent a center file the appropriate paperwork see if you qualify or not instead of just keep on paying tell you realize that you have no more money to put towards your laptop and you can return at any time and pick up where you left off at on your rental agreement so the money you put towards your laptop would not be lost calling cop-rate number not always the best solution because it puts pressure on the store manager and the store manager might not work with you as much by being a whistle blower and if you read your pamphlet of benefit plus it tells you options if things go south with a job so you would not be stuck in this situation

Honestly how the *** are you an assistant manager and you didn't put one single period in your entire reply? I don't get it.

Don't call corporate because it puts pressure on the store? The whole point in calling corporate is to put pressure. Store Managers don't dictate orders or trump corporate orders. If corporate says jump, RAC stores reply how high.

That's how it works with franchises.

This whole benefits plus is just *** It's there for emergencies and yet the customer is supposed to plan a head and jump through all these damn hoops!! If people knew in advance that they were going to lose there job they probably wouldn't be in a RAC making purchases!

And shame on the post from RAC "ass"instant managers saying that these poor untrained employees shouldn't have corporate getting involved because of the pressure.... Do your job right to begin with and remember that it is US the customer who pay your wages!

I had to go over the store managers head once because he was unwilling to work with me. I was not a whistle blower I was an unsatisfied customer.

The result was positive. Managers should not be retaliatory towards customers who do not get satisfaction at the store level.

RAC in fort smith , ar. The one on zero , is absolutely amazing... They are all so kind !!

Guest

Hi I had problems like that before and was fixed right away as a matter of fact if you had read the manual that they give to you it states in there what benefits you are entitled to

Guest

Hi รขโ‚ฌโ€œ I work at RAC and Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm very sorry to hear about your situation. Benefits Plus does entitle you to payment waivers if you involuntarily become unemployed, and this should have been made clear to you when you signed up for the program.

Please call our Customer Care department at 1-80*-***-**** and let them know what happened so they can address the issue. Hope this helps.

Its called don't buy things you don't need and especially can't afford. Its always the people who over spend or put themselves in debt with poor money management that want the bailouts.

If you don't have a helpful comment then why are you commenting? She said that she was laid off and loss of job is covered under the insurance so she is entitled to help they have to pay or its breach of contract which makes the contract null and void and she can sue them for it if anything you *** ***. :(

Actually no they do not have to offer the program if you buy it, it is up to YOU to bring in all the proper documents that are needed. People come in and get mad about contracts all the time, but quite frankly a smart person will never sign a contract without knowing what it says. Yes it would have been a kind gesture by the employee to tell her about it but they do not have to.

actually thats where you are wrong its up to the customer to know all the benefits that they are or are not entilted to under the rental agreement and by the pay history as well to keep merchandise out most customer breach there contract in the first 6 weeks but we are wiling to work with customer due to circumstances that happen and if people have a problem the contract clearly states that we see arbitrator not a attorney or a judge to decided on the appropriate matters that need to take place but majority of people just think u can stop paying and we will not come after you i been in rent a center business for 6 years so i clearly know how the company works and how the contract written and under the contract you MUST PAY 6 WEEKS ON TIME to be consider to keep your end of the contract that the customer clearly signed there name on stating that they understand the information that they are signing and again if you go past due then try to sign up for unemployment through benefit plus they will deny you because you went past due when you should know when you are due because we will call you giving you a friendly reminder that your payment due then if you do not get our message on the day you are due the next day we will call you twice a day or even three times a day to get a hold of you and if that does not work we will call your references call your job and even stop out at your house to get communication with you
